Sampling is completed during the site visit. Laboratory turnaround depends on the analysis selected and the laboratory schedule, and is confirmed before sampling. Expedited analysis is available for some tests at additional cost.

Samples are submitted to an accredited third-party laboratory under documented chain of custody. You receive the laboratory report together with a written interpretation, so the result can be given to a contractor, a landlord, an insurer or the other side of a transaction.

Which laboratory does ASM use?+
Samples go to accredited third-party laboratories rather than being analyzed in-house. The laboratory is selected for the analysis required and is independent of ASM, which keeps the result objective rather than an opinion from the party that took the sample.
Do results come back as a pass or a fail?+
Rarely. Most analyses return quantities, species or fibre content rather than a verdict. Airborne spore results are read against an outdoor sample taken the same day; asbestos results report whether the material contains asbestos and at what content.
Why does chain of custody matter?+
Chain of custody is the documented record of who collected the sample, when, from where and how it reached the laboratory. Without it a result can be challenged by an insurer, a landlord or the other side of a transaction.
Can you interpret a lab report I already have?+
Yes. Bring the laboratory report and, if available, the sampling record showing where and when samples were taken. Sampling context matters as much as the figures, so where it is missing the interpretation will say what the report can and cannot establish.
