Samples are submitted to an accredited third-party laboratory under documented chain of custody. You receive the laboratory report together with a written interpretation, so the result can be given to a contractor, a landlord, an insurer or the other side of a transaction.

Which materials commonly contain asbestos?+
Vermiculite loose-fill insulation, pipe and duct insulation, textured or stipple ceilings, vinyl floor tile and sheet flooring backing, drywall joint compound, cement board, some roofing and siding, and older plaster. Buildings constructed before 1990 are the most likely to contain them.
Do I need an asbestos survey before renovating?+
For workplaces and construction projects, Ontario requires the owner to determine whether designated substances including asbestos are present and to pass that information to contractors before work begins. Ontario Regulation 278/05 governs asbestos work in buildings and repair operations.
Is asbestos dangerous if it is left alone?+
Material that is intact, in good condition and undisturbed generally presents a low risk. The hazard comes from fibres released when material is cut, sanded, drilled, broken or removed, which is why condition is recorded alongside the laboratory result.
Does ASM remove asbestos?+
No. Asbestos removal is regulated work carried out by a licensed abatement contractor under Ontario Regulation 278/05. ASM’s role here is inspection, sampling and reporting, which keeps the findings independent of whoever quotes on the removal.
